How we might "Fix" Congress.

The Great American Democracy Experiment.

They too didn't get it right until they got it right. Now it is up to us to fix what has gone wrong since them.

Hello reader.

Recently I was a recipient of an email, one of so many recipients, that shared what could be called 'Congressional Reform Act of 2011'. This is not for Republicans or Democrats or any Political party for that matter. It is for all Americans. All I ask is that you read it and then decide for yourself.

I am very much in favor of what this reform act is calling for but I feel it isn't going far enough. In this sharing of that email I would like to not change what is there already but to add Items
#9, #10 and #11 and the paragraphs and quotes that follow them. I wish I knew who wrote the original email so I could give them the
credit they are due.

I love America and Americanism but I feel the government is straying way to far from what our founding fathers had in mind. For example, and only one of so many in US history, the recent budget concerns where Congress fought each other to “fix” the damages they caused and then raised, once again, the spending limits. The lifting of the spending limits has been done over 100 times in our history for basically the same reasons so I didn't understand why this one was referred to as 'historical'. Once again the politicians make the mistakes as well as punish us for them.

Anyway, I feel major adjustments to how our government, in its structure, is very necessary to bring our country back to how it was originally designed and the reforms mentioned in the original email is a great start. But, it must be mandated soon by enough US citizens for it to work for us.

Normally I do not forward email because many of them can be annoying and at times, insulting. This one I feel is so very important that I am breaking my own rule.

Below is the original email that is going around the country with my additional #9, #10 and #11 and its following paragraphs. The rest of the email is as it was when I received it.

Thank you.

Steve

Congress Change/Reform

This is something I will fight for and I hope you will too. This is short so please read it all the way through, and then forward. You will be glad you did.

The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971...before computers, before e-mail, before cell phones, etc.

Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land...all because of public pressure.

I'm asking each addressee to read this and decide if you want to forward this email to a minimum of however many people on your address list(s) as you want; in turn ask each of those to do likewise. Then, pressure your elected officials from the highest level down to “make it law”.

In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around. Want to save much-needed tax monies?

Here is -
Congressional Reform Act of 2011

    1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office. Refer to # 9...
    2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.
    3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do. Refer to # 9...
    4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%. Refer to # 9...
    5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people. Refer to # 9...
    6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

    7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.
    8. Two terms just like the President.
    9. The government should be run as a corporation. In that I mean in corporations each employee is given an annual performance evaluation. If elected or appointed officials, employees all alike of ours, do not meet at least “performs as expected” or “exceeds exceptions” in all categories for their jobs that person is let go and can never run again or be acceptable for rehire. The evaluators owe their jobs and future as evaluators to “We The People”. “We The People” are the shareholders of our government, as decreed by the US Founding Fathers, and we should start now to appoint the Board Of Directors and evaluators to serve at our pleasures. And so many of other typical corporate policies may be build into the system as “WE THE PEOPLE” deem necessary as things develop.
    10. The American election process should be what is defined by Democracy. In effect, all that would matter, at ever level of election, is the popular vote. No other method of voting or election process should be allowed under the law. This means processes like Electoral College voting, the anti-democratic process of election, which over rides and eliminates the The Popular Vote, is voided and declared unconstitutional. The poplar vote, where the entire citizen population of registered voters, is that only allowable method of voting for public office of every level, no exception.

    11. This is so important to the survival of America and Americanism itself. It isn't the only necessity, the 10 items above are a great start but this one is so essential as well. It should be mandated and made into law that anyone who weakens or tampers with the essence of The US Constitution, leaving us with any less degree of liberty for any reason, should be arrested and tried and if found guilty, imprisoned for treason. Any past “adjustments” to The US Constitution that have limited our liberties should be restored to its original form and protective strengths. The only people who have the legal power to change the US Constitution are the voting public in a popular vote. No elected or appointed officials, individual or group(s), shall have this power.

Reminder - "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." Benjamin Franklin.

We must do something before it is too late, before we lose it all. The Congressional Reform Act of 2011 is a great something.

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke).

The founding Fathers declared and created the US Government as a 'Citizens Government'. That is the very essence of "Government Of the people, by the people and for the people". Some where along the course of time government 'employees, both elected and/or appointed', seem to have forgotten that and behave as though they own both the government and the country and we have allowed it. Who are they doing these things for? So obviously not “WE THRE PEOPLE”. This is why these changes and adjustments are so needed and for us to call for this, The Congressional Reform Act of 2011 to be added to the laws of our country. We cannot go on allowing what is going on in our name but not necessarily for our benefit or we will lose all that was so necessarily fought for in The US Revolution.

This means The Government and the US Constitution should protect us from all enemies, both foreign and domestic, even from our own Government.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S. ) to receive the message.

THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS!!!!!

If you agree with the above, pass it on. If not, just delete.

You are one of my 20+. Please keep it going.
